Our Plan
Our plan has policies specific to each risk level of the Ohio Public Health Advisory System. Policies and expectations will change as the determined risk level for Cuyahoga County increases or decreases. As of right now, the levels are updated on Thursdays and changes to our plan will be implemented the following Monday. The following is an overview of our plan based on the 5 main areas provided in the Health and Safety Guidance for Ohio K-12 Schools and takes into consideration all available guidance. A COVID-19 handbook will be provided with our Student Handbook which will contain more information on building specific procedures. This plan is subject to change.
In Person Learning vs. Remote Learning
With the constantly changing impact of COVID-19 on our community, we want to give our parents the ability to choose what is best for their family. We will be offering a full virtual classroom experience for any student, K-8. All classes will be livestreamed using Office Suite HD (basically Zoom with better security features) and students learning from home will receive real time teacher support during lessons. See our Remote Learning Plan for more details.
Risk Level 1 – All students learning five days each week, in person, at school. Exceptions may be made based on the individual needs of our families on a case by case basis.
Risk Level 2 – Students learning in person five days each week, option for remote learning for kindergarten – 8th grade. See remote learning description above for more information. Students may seamlessly return to in-person instruction at the start of a new week, provided prior notice is given.
Risk Level 3 – Students learning in person five days each week, option for remote learning for kindergarten – 8th grade. See remote learning description above for more information. Students may seamlessly return to in-person instruction at the start of a new week, provided prior notice is given.
Risk Level 4 – Students learning in person five days each week, option for remote learning for kindergarten – 8th grade. See remote learning description above for more information. Students may seamlessly return to in-person instruction at the start of a new week, provided prior notice is given.
Maintaining Student Health and Safety
Risk Level 1
Assess for symptoms – All students will be screened and have their temperature taken before entering the school building. Any student with a temperature above 100 degrees Fahrenheit, or exhibiting any COVID – 19 symptoms will be sent home. Students who develop symptoms during the school day will be isolated from other students and sent home.
Wash and sanitize hands – Hand sanitizer will be provided in classrooms, main entries, and the cafeteria. Students will wash/sanitize hands upon entering the building and regularly throughout the day, especially before and after eating.
Practice social distancing – Thanks to small class sizes and large classrooms, all students are able to be seated approximately 6 ft apart in classrooms. Students will be encouraged to maintain appropriate social distance whenever feasible.
School environment – The school building will be sanitized daily according to CDC and EPA guidelines to the furthest extent we are able. High-touch areas will be sanitized multiple times throughout the school day. Water fountains will be turned off, and students are encouraged to bring their own water bottles to keep at their desk.
Sharing of supplies – Whenever possible students will use individual supplies to be kept at their desk. Any time there is a required sharing of supplies, they will be sanitized before/after use.

Returning to School after Illness
*The requirements below are taken from the CDC and can be found at https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/if-you-are-sick/end-home-isolation.html
Risk Level 1 – Families and staff must notify the school if they have been exposed to or diagnosed with COVID – 19. The school will then notify the local health department. Families and staff with known exposure to COVID-19 must self-quarantine for 10 days.
Students/Staff who think or know they have COVID-19, may return to school when the all the following requirements are met:
- 3 days (72 hours) with no fever
- Respiratory symptoms have improved (e.g. cough, shortness of breath)
- 10 days since symptoms first appeared
Depending on your healthcare provider’s advice and availability of testing, you might get tested to see if you still have COVID-19. If you will be tested, you can be around others when you have no fever, respiratory symptoms have improved, and you receive two negative test results in a row, at least 24 hours apart.
